Kepa and Mendy could leave Chelsea next summer

Kepa, The £71m goalkeeper has rebuilt his confidence under Thomas Tuchel but the 2021 European champions believe it has boosted their chances of securing a major fee for him. Edouard Mendy is still the first choice of the team and there are no plans to move him even after Kepa’s recent form.

Chelsea, currently anticipating offers at the end of the season, hoping the 27-year-old will want to go for a club that will consider him for regular first-team football after the World Cup in Qatar.

Reportedly, he was allowed to leave last summer, but there was no offer and Chelsea wouldn’t let him go on loan or as a free agent which made him remain Mendy’s understudy.

Jordan Pickford is one of the goalkeepers Chelsea is currently keeping an eye on, but he’s not the only one, according to Fabrizio Romano. Nothing is final or firm yet.

Of course, they have to make a decision on Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. They both seem to be good goalkeepers, but total confidence is needed, otherwise, it makes no sense to continue.

The arrival of Edouard Mendy in 2020 has reduced him to the rank of luxury substitute at Chelsea. Aged 27, Kepa Arrizabalaga needs playing time and can only settle for the League Cup each season. A competition for which he should play the final against Liverpool in a few weeks. Under contract until June 2025, his value is estimated at 10 million euros. At this price, Spanish clubs could quickly position themselves to buy him.
