Singer Teni gets dragged for her lack of courtesy to President Buhari while receiving National award

Teni, a Nigerian musician, is presently trending on Twitter for her disdain towards the president. On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, it was announced that the federal government bestowed national prizes on over 400 Nigerians and foreigners.

Teni, one of the night’s recipients, elicited conflicting reviews for her behaviour at the event. Teni was seen jumping as she walked the stage to accept her medal in a video that went viral.

Surprisingly, the artist did not show respect to the president. Many people were outraged by her actions and turned to Twitter to call her out. Many people thought her actions were insulting to the president.

“It won’t take Teni anything to be polite like Tobi Amusan and honor the president on national tv tho, this is a national award not a Buhari award,” one Lagos resident said. It would have been better if she had not accepted the invitation at all; it does not reflect highly on her as a Yoruba woman.

Ezra Olubi, the co-founder of paystack, was awarded the OON (Order Of The Niger) during the 2022 National Honors event on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022. As Olubi approached the podium to accept his prize, President Buhari’s eyes were amusingly drawn to him.
