Graham Potter has confirmed that Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante will be sidelined for another three months owing to an Injury.

The Frenchman has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in a match against Tottenham in August at the start of the season. It initially looked like a minor issue, but in October, he underwent surgery to fix the problem, and the club was hopeful that he will make a return to action in the new year. It has now been confirmed by Potter that Kante might not make it back on the pitch until March at least.

Kante who is yet to play under Graham Potter since the Englishman took over at Stamford Bridge in October was hopeful of a speedy recovery and return to the side, but that will have to wait for a few more weeks with this new setback. Despite the injuries suffered by Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Chelsea is well-stocked in central midfield as they have Mateo Kovacic, Conor Gallagher, Denis Zakaria, Jorginho and Carney Chukwuemeka as capable options.

In spite of the array of options, Chelsea still retains an interest in Declan Rice as the 23-year-old remains Chelsea’s No. 1 target in midfield, but they will have to wait till the summer to Tempt him away from the London stadium.

West Ham United though, are desperate to keep him and has even offered him a new contract, but the midfielder wants to play Champions League football.

The Hammers could change their position at the end of the season because Rice will have 12 months left on his contract by June and they may look to cash in on him. Another potential option is Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has been monitored by the club for quite some time, even before Potter arrived at Chelsea.
