Having had a stellar transfer window, Arsenal is now set to convince Bukayo Saka towards extending his stay at the club, and the manager, Mikel Arteta, feels confident that they can reach an agreement with the 20-year-old.

Bukayo Saka has been instrumental for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal

Bukayo Saka, who grew from the academy ranks at Arsenal, has 2 years left on his current contract, but Arsenal isn’t taking any chances with their wonderkind who has been instrumental to their growth and performances over the last 2 seasons. They are preparing an offer for the player’s contract extension and Mikel Arteta believes that Saka will renew his contract.

Speaking on the issue in a press conference before their showdown against Bournemouth, Arteta said that he is “confident” that all parties involved are “aligned” towards the same goal, so signing the new contract is what remains of the negotiations.

He also said that he’d be happy if the negotiations were completed soon so that Saka would focus on the new season ahead because he’d also be representing England at the World Cup later this year. Bukayo Saka, who broke into the first team under Unai Emery in 2019, has gradually become one of the most integral players for Arsenal. He was the club’s top goalscorer last season with 12 goals and his performances over time have greatly helped the team get to where they are now.

Recall that early this summer, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were linked to a move for the 20-year-old English international, but Arsenal has successfully fended off such rumours. Bukayo Saka is a prospect, and with his age, run of form, and performances, Arsenal could lose him in the near future. Hopefully, they would be able to secure a deal for their poster boy and extend his stay at the club, as per Arteta’s intuition.

Mikel Arteta to focus on the current crop of players in the team

Mikel Arteta confirmed yesterday that Arsenal will let go of some players, in order to cut down the squad, and also hinted at the fact that they might not make any new signings but will focus on the current squad that they have. They have already loaned out Nuno Tavares to Marseille and he has done great things in the Ligue 1, but they want to remove more players.

Some of the players they are looking to sell or loan out include Nicholas Pepe, Hector Bellerin, and Reiss Nelson. On new arrivals, they have signed a Matt Turner, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, and Marquinhos. While Gabriel Jesus and Zinchenko have immensely contributed to Arsenal’s wonderful start to the season, fans are still yet to see the likes of Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner in action.
Arsenal currently has a good squad and has shown that they can compete for titles at the highest level.
