Ian Wright talks about Potter’s use of Raheem Sterling

English TV personality Ian Wright is of the opinion that Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling will be dissatisfied with the present tactical set-up that is being used by Chelsea under the direction of new coach Graham Potter.

Raheem Sterling has had a difficult time making an impression in recent weeks, scoring just a goal for Chelsea in his past nine games.

It has been brought to Potter’s attention that Sterling operating as a wing-back in his tactics is not nice, but Potter has insisted that Raheem Sterling is not overburdened with the role.

Wright argues that opposition teams are taking advantage of Chelsea’s defensive vulnerability in wide areas. However, Wright believes that Potter is not doing a good job of getting the most out of Sterling.

On the Kelly and Wrighty Show, before Chelsea’s match against london club Arsenal, Wright said, “This is one of the puzzling things that the coach is doing at Chelsea right now, I’m unable to get my head off it.” Wright was referring to Graham Potter’s actions.

It’s hard and challenging for him to go to a new club and have to play in a position like that right off the bat. I really hope they can figure it out for him as soon as possible.

English personality Ian Wright is also of the opinion that Chelsea’s recent string of close victories under Potter’s management following Tuchel’s departure has “papered over the fractures.”

“I am aware that they have only lost one in the last 10, but based on how they performed the other day, they are not in good form.”
