Femi Kuti: Only Zombies are known to be Obedient

Nigerian Musician and first son of Afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti has taken a swipe at supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying they were Zombies and fools, who cannot think and make decisions for themselves.

The musician who pronounced himself “Smart” stated he can never be one of those Zombies (Peter Obi supporters), that can be given a command and obey. The word “Zombie” is culled from the name of his father’s third album, which was released by his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, in 1976.

At that time, Fela criticize Soldiers of the Nigerian army, and called them a robotic and senseless set of individuals, in one of the Studio album’s songs. The song is said to be one of Fela’s most popular and loved songs ever, the massive success of the song, however, came with trouble for Fela, as his house was attacked severally in Lagos.

Femi Kuti slammed “Obedients” in the course of his performance at the Fela Shrine, on Thursday night. He said “Do you know what obedience means ??? It is just like ordering someone to stand up, sit down, sit there, Zombie. 

How can you be Obidient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at age 60, why am I an Obidient? You said I should be Obidient, I should sit down and be peaceful”.

The labour party presidential candidate has received enormous support from various quarters, especially from youths all over school, who think he is a better candidate as compared to the other candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2023 elections. And his supporters have labelled themselves “Obidients”.

In immense preparation for the forthcoming general elections, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has appointed Prof. Charles Okigbo as the party’s Campaign Spokesman. The news was verified and posted by Jack Obinyan, a top campaigner of the Obi-datti ticket.

Prof Charles is said to be a respected professor, at the North Dakota, University, the USA, where he specializes in research of various kinds, ranging from media coverage of elections, strategic educational fundraising, and the various processes for leadership development and social change. He has authored seven books on public affairs reporting, strategic health, Communication, public relations development, and advertising.
