Chelsea look set to have a busy few weeks in the January transfer window as they seek to add Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo to their ranks. This follows reports that a deal for France and RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku has been done, and he is said to follow as the next addition.

Caicedo whose deal at the AMEX Stadium is set to expire in 2025 has made 14 appearances for the seagulls this term, with one goal to his name. After working with Graham Potter during his time at Brighton, he has continued to attract interest from some of Europe’s best clubs since making the move to the premier league from Ecuadorian side Independiente Del Valle for £ 4.5 million in February 2021.

The Blues are joined by Liverpool in the race to tempt him away from Brighton following his impressive performances at the world cup where he started all three group-stage games scoring in the 2-1 defeat to Senegal as Ecuador suffered a first-round exit in the process.

Caicedo is considered one of the most exciting talents to come out from his country, and it is no surprise that some of Europe’s biggest clubs are jostling for his signature, and he has not hidden his desire to reunite with former coach Graham Potter as he was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer and it seems the 24-year-old will jump at the chance if it surfaces again in January.
