Aymeric Laporte hints at Manchester City stay amid Barcelona rumours

Aymeric Laporte, a centre back for Manchester City, has said that he doesn’t want to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, even though there have been reports that he will move to Barcelona.

The 28-year-old has only played 19 times for the Citizens during the 2022–23 season. He was hurt at the start of the season, and after that, it was hard for him to get regular playing time.

Laporte has only started seven games in the Premier League so far this season. He seems to be behind John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake in the group.

Barcelona is said to be keeping a close eye on the situation because they want to sign him during the summer transfer window.

Laporte has said that he wants to “make history” with Man City for as long as possible.

Laporte told reporters, “The city is everything to me.” “I’ve only played for two teams in my life. I also like the team that came before City, Athletic Bilbao.

“They told me to come here, and I could tell from the first day that it was a very special place. I wanted to come here so I could win a lot of prizes and add as much as I could to the history of this club.

“This club has a winning attitude, and we try to win every game. The only thing that might be different from past seasons is that we now have Erling Braut Haaland up front, who is a goal-scoring machine and makes our job easier.

“I think this could be the difference. So that we can try to win all of these titles, we are trying to see this as a good thing.

This season, the titles are the most important for us, and if we can win them, the results will be great. We work well together, and I think we are all friends and happy for each other.

“We can win three titles, but it won’t be easy because Manchester United is in the FA Cup, the Premier League has several top clubs, and the division has teams that are fighting to stay in the league.

“We only need to pay attention to ourselves. We will try to get back at Real Madrid for the Champions League loss they gave us last year.

Laporte joined Manchester City in January 2018 from Athletic Bilbao. Since then, he has played 174 times for the Citizens, scoring 12 goals and setting up four others.

Pep Guardiola’s team is currently in first place in the Premier League, one point ahead of second-placed Arsenal with one game to go. They will play Real Madrid in the semifinals of the Champions League and Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
