Following statements made by Tunisia’s Minister of Sports, FIFA has expressed their intention to exclude the country from the 2022 World Cup.

The participation of Tunisia in the tournament that will take place in the month of November is in jeopardy as a result of comments made by Kamel Deguiche, the minister of youth and sports, regarding the prospect of “dissolving federal offices of different disciplines.”

It would appear that FIFA interpreted this to mean the Tunisian Football Association (FTF).

The governing body of football FIFA has requested more information on these statements in a letter that was discovered and published by the radio station Mosaique FM.

In the letter, it was pointed out that “State officials have been attempting to interfere in the internal operations of the Tunisian Federation and have threatened to dissolve FTF’s office.”

The International Football Federation (FIFA) issued a warning to its members, stating that they “are legally obliged to handle their activities freely and without undue influence from outside parties.”

In addition, it stated that failing to comply “may result in the implementation of penalties in accordance with the FIFA statutes, including suspension of the country from the world cup.”
